SRDP Agriculture Supervisor
The Sugar Rotational Development Program (SRDP) offers a wealth of career opportunities within the agricultural sector. Participants will engage in a range of activities, including planting, seeding, cultivation, fertilization, harvesting, research, and equipment maintenance, all while emphasizing sustainable production practices. The SRDP Agriculture Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing these tasks, alongside personnel assigned to their respective departments, who are also prepared to assist other departments as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Science or a related field
Minimum 3 years’ experience in agriculture (experience in sugar cane farming would be an asset)
Skills and Competencies:
Ability to physically work in an industrial/farming environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in computer systems specifically, Microsoft Suite
Awareness of trends, technologies, and developments within the industry
Excellent observation skills, attention to details
Excellent team player and able to motivate colleagues
Possess a valid driver's license (vehicle & motorcycle)
Roles and Responsibilities:
Facilitate the planning and establishment of sugarcane fields for land preparation and planting activities
Gain a deeper understanding of the daily practices within each department, it is essential to engage with the department heads and provide assistance with their assigned daily activities
Assist with the supervision of field employees
Collaborate with department heads in the planning of weekly, monthly, and annual activities
Assist with employees’ monthly training and ensure safety regulations are followed (proper PPE usage, chemical handling, and equipment and environmental safety)
Any additional responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor
