Power House Operator

The Power House Operator will monitor and operate systems and equipment in accordance with the standard operating procedures. This position will also operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot all power generation plant and auxiliary equipment, cooling towers, and other related equipment.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Associate Degree in Chemistry or Physics or Electrical related field

 Skills and Competencies: 

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Must have basic computer skills

  • Ability to work rotating shift

  • Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner

  • Multiple task and meet stringent deadlines

  • Perform work both indoors and outdoors requiring continuous physical activity, sometimes of a strenuous and stressful nature

  • Build strong relationships, to evaluate and diagnose situations accurately, exercise good judgment, remain flexible, communicate effectively, achieve goals that promote the plant’s best interest, work effectively as a team member and readily accept challenges in often stressful situations

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with the Control Room Operator and the Shift Supervisor about equipment start and stop time, abnormal conditions and corrective actions, equipment checks and conditions found

  • Isolate and restore system, equipment and components strictly adhering to the work scope and applicable permit procedures and practices

  • Use troubleshooting and analytical skills along with a variety of tests and assessment procedures

  • Use plant computer systems to monitor work backlog and input work order data

  • Work in accordance with quality control and quality assurance procedures

  • Perform other tasks as instructed by the Shift Supervisor

  • Operate system, equipment and components during start-up, running, shutdown and standby mode in accordance with standard operating procedures

  • Perform operational diagnostic and analytical functions on systems, equipment and components
