Planting & Cultivation Supervisor

The Planting & Cultivation Supervisor will be responsible for the coordination of land preparation, planting, cultivation, and pest control activities within the sugarcane fields, ensuring that these tasks are executed promptly and in accordance with the overall operational plan. This role requires adherence to directives issued by the Farm Superintendent and the Director of Agriculture and assisting in estimating potential production yields for the sugarcane fields. The supervisor will be tasked with delegating responsibilities to area leaders and employees and oversee the execution of assigned activities. Furthermore, a willingness to assist other departments as needed.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Science or a related field

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in agriculture (experience in sugar cane farming would be an asset)

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the planning and establishment of sugarcane fields for land preparation and planting activities.

  • Perform regular evaluations of the fields to assess crop health, growth stages, water requirements, and any pest or disease concerns, adhering to established criteria (minimum area of 10 acres, absence of stones and stumps, and proximity to the factory)

  • Maintain a detailed timesheet documenting the activities of employees under his/her supervision for payroll processing purposes

  • Provide an annual planting plan

  • Assist in the execution of field trials, soil fertility improvement, pest control, etc... according to Research and Development plans

  • Communicate with local farmers to provide technical support and educate them on best practices for cultivation

  • Assist in evaluating the AgGrowPro Farmers' fields to determine if they meet the requirements for the program

  • Any additional responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor
