Mechanic/Welder
The Mechanic/Welder is required to maintain and repair diesel engines of trucks, loading equipment, etc., and able to weld using steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel parts using Arc, MIG and/or TIG processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
Associate degree in related field or ITVET Class II certification
3 years’ experience with welding techniques and diesel engine repairs
Experience with steel, aluminum, and/or stainless steel is required
Valid driver’s license: Class B, B2, B3, C2, & E
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Willingness to learn and work to the best of his abilities
Dependable work ethic
Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of engine repair, mechanical and electrical systems, and maintenance
Ability to read blueprints, drawings, callipers, tape measures, and angle gauges
Perform tasks that require heavy physical effort, occasionally in inclement weather
Roles and Responsibilities:
Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
Cut workpieces, using powered saws, hand shears, or a chipping knife
Melt lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to the joint or to extrude melted scrap into a reusable form
Install or repair equipment, such as agricultural equipment, heavy equipment, body work, etc…
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
Any other tasks or duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor
