GIS Technician
The GIS Technician will be responsible for creating and maintaining maps, databases, and other spatial data products. You will work closely with other team members to support various projects and initiatives that require spatial analysis and data visualization.
Qualifications and Experience:
Associate’s degree in any of the following areas: Geography, Geographic Information System (GIS), Information Technology, Statistics, Natural Resource Management, or any other related field
Skills, Abilities, and Personal Attributes:
Experience in data collection, entry, and processing
Proficiency in GIS software, GPS mapping, field survey, and data collection software
Experience with spatial analysis and data visualization
Excellent problem-solving skills
Familiarity with GPS and field data collection techniques
Ability to coordinate and train field teams for data collection
Experience in Microsoft Office specifically, MS Excel and similar databases
Excellent organizational skills and results-driven
Roles and Responsibilities:
Organize, prepare, and coordinate GIS databases using drones and other innovative platforms. This includes preparing mechanisms for field data collection, training of field personnel, and data compilation and analysis.
Manage information and provide weekly and monthly reports to the team as per identified needs
Provide oversight and coordination of the new cane farmers’ application using Blockchain technology
Coordinate BSI and related farmer project participation and data provision to the SIMIS
Guide BSI field team to develop other innovative solutions for data driven decision making
