HARVESTING TECHNICIAN
The Harvesting Technician is responsible to supervise the day-to-day activities of the harvesting operation. The position entails overseeing all activities related to harvesting cane: from the burning of fields, loading of trucks and the delivery of the cane to the factory. Harvesting operation includes mechanize and manual cutting of cane. The incumbent will be responsible of keeping records of all harvesting activities and PPE’s issued to all employees.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Science or related field
At least 5 years’ experience in farming (particular experience in sugar cane would be an asset)
Must have valid driver's license and an acceptable, safe driving record, and driving habit
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Capable of using computer systems
Ability to collaborate with employees, to work with large groups of employees
Must be a team player with impeccable honesty and integrity
Be able to motivate others and be proactive
Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of precise agriculture and Drone technology applicable in mechanized harvesting of sugarcane.
Excellent leadership skills is required
Roles and Responsibilities:
Prepare weekly harvesting program and reports
Ensure the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedures of each activity within the harvesting department
Supervise all personnel involved in the harvesting operation: field workers, tractor operators and harvester operators
Report unsafe and unethical practices to Agronomist- Harvesting Supervisor
Promote health and safety in the workplace. Report and log all accidents that happens during the operation
Conduct any other task given to him by the Agronomist- Harvesting and head of department
