Harvesting Technician

The Harvesting Technician will be responsible for the daily supervision of harvesting fronts as assigned by the Supervisor of Harvesting Operations. Responsible for completing daily harvesting quotas according to the harvesting plan prepared by the Harvesting Supervisor.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Science or related field

  • At least 5 years’ experience in farming, preferable experience in sugarcane harvesting operations

  • A valid driver’s license is required, commercial driver’s license a plus

 Skills and Competencies: 

  • Must be able to function independently, demonstrate flexibility and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.

  • Must possess the ability to make decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Exercise good judgment and solid thought process.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other management staff.

  • Good communication skills – requires the ability to effectively communicate verbally and written

  • Knowledge of techniques and equipment for harvesting cane

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Comply and enforce ASR Group’s Environmental Health and Safety Policy (EHS), must understand and adhere to all ASR’s policies and procedures

  • Complete weekly and daily harvesting assignments of manual, mechanical and/or contracted harvesting fronts

  • Maintain good communication with farmers on daily and weekly harvesting assignments on necessary improvements on fields to be able to improve harvesting operations

  • Responsible for a proper and timely pre-harvest burn according to the weekly plan

  • Supervise the daily harvesting operations

  • Report breakdowns or unproper functioning of harvesting equipment to the Supervisor of Harvesting
